Internal Tensions Erupt Within BJP in Bahrod Ahead of Civic Body Elections

Bahrod. The Bharatiya Janata Party is grappling with significant internal discord in Kotputli-Bahrod as the municipal elections approach. During a recent party meeting, disagreements regarding the selection of candidates for the upcoming polls escalated into open confrontation, with local leaders and party workers engaging in heated exchanges in the presence of senior observers and assembly in-charges.

The situation intensified when party members began voicing their grievances directly from the stage. Dr. Shanu Yadav, the state vice-president of the BJP Mahila Morcha, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the current approach to ticket distribution. She emphasized that many dedicated workers have served the organization for years and argued that ignoring these long-standing members in favor of new faces would be a disservice to the party's foundation.

Adding to the tension, party leader Dr. Mohit Yadav asserted that tickets should be awarded strictly based on winnability and long-term commitment to the organization. He declared his readiness to advocate at the highest levels, including with the Chief Minister, to ensure that only capable and deserving candidates are selected to represent the party in the municipal race.

The atmosphere grew increasingly volatile until former Alwar MLA Banwari Lal Singhal, acting as the observer for the region, intervened to restore order. He cautioned the gathering that such public displays of infighting were detrimental to the party's discipline and organizational health. Singhal clarified that the final decision on ticket allocation would be based on objective surveys and the potential for victory rather than individual preferences or factional support.

The observer further instructed party workers to prioritize the party's collective identity over individual leaders. He urged members to focus their slogans on the party and its national and state leadership, warning against the practice of chanting in support of specific individuals. While the intervention managed to temporarily calm the proceedings, the public rift highlights a growing challenge for the BJP as it attempts to finalize its strategy for the upcoming civic elections.
