Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer police have successfully dismantled a sophisticated interstate burglary gang, leading to the arrest of five individuals following a targeted operation. The breakthrough came just twenty days after a double burglary incident in the village of Bhaisada, which served as a critical turning point for investigators. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare, a collaborative effort involving the Chittorgarh Special Team was launched to track the suspects across district lines.

The investigation was triggered by a report filed on October 6, 2026, by Bhanwaruram, who reported that thieves had broken into his home in Bhaisada during the night. The perpetrators stole gold jewelry, silver items, and cash. On the same night, the residence of his cousin, Rajesh Kumar, was also targeted, with the thieves making off with silver anklets and a significant amount of cash. These incidents prompted the formation of specialized police teams tasked with monitoring potential escape routes and analyzing technical evidence.

The police strategy involved a combination of human intelligence and digital surveillance. By analyzing movement patterns and utilizing local informant networks, the teams were able to trace the suspects to the Chittorgarh district. The operation required officers to work undercover, gathering data and tracking the gang's movements until they were finally apprehended. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jaswant Kanjar, Lokesh, Bahadur Daroga, Dharmraj Daroga, and Rahul Kumar Soni, all residents of the Chittorgarh region.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to a string of burglaries spanning several months, including incidents in Chelak, Sanwala, Jhabra, and Fatehgarh. The gang employed a calculated modus operandi, often disabling their mobile phones and using vehicles like trailers and SUVs to drop members off several kilometers away from the target site. After conducting reconnaissance and executing the thefts, they would regroup at a pre-arranged location to flee the area.

Authorities noted that the primary suspect, Jaswant Kanjar, has a significant criminal history, with sixteen cases related to burglary and the Arms Act registered against him in various districts between 2019 and 2022. Police are continuing their investigation to determine if the gang is linked to other unsolved crimes in the region.
