Sawai Madhopur. Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena conducted surprise inspections in the Bhadoti and Gambhira regions of Sawai Madhopur to address growing concerns regarding the quality of local infrastructure projects. The visit followed numerous complaints from residents about the rapid deterioration of newly constructed roads and persistent issues with the irrigation network connected to the Dheel Dam.
During the site visit, locals informed the minister that a road project, completed only a month ago at a significant cost, had already begun to disintegrate. This rapid degradation has caused substantial inconvenience to commuters and farmers alike. Furthermore, residents highlighted that the Dheel Dam canal system was failing to deliver water to the tail-end regions, suggesting systemic flaws in the recent strengthening and maintenance efforts.
Dr. Meena held officials from the Public Works Department and the Water Resources Department accountable for the reported lapses. He emphasized that the misuse of public funds for substandard construction would not be tolerated. The minister directed the departments to ensure that all future and ongoing development works strictly adhere to established quality benchmarks, warning that negligence would lead to severe administrative consequences.
To address the immediate failures, the minister ordered a high-level technical investigation into both the road construction and the canal works. He explicitly instructed officials to withhold payments to contractors responsible for the poor quality of work. In instances where payments have already been processed, he mandated that the funds be recovered from the agencies involved in accordance with government regulations.
The minister further directed that the necessary repairs and improvements be completed within a strict timeframe to meet quality standards. He urged administrative officials to conduct regular, on-site monitoring of all regional projects to prevent future irregularities. Dr. Meena assured the gathered farmers and local representatives that the government remains committed to protecting public resources and ensuring that development projects serve their intended purpose for the community.
