Hyena Attacks Leave Three Injured in Karauli Village

A series of hyena attacks in Maholi village has left three residents hospitalized, prompting a swift response from forest officials to secure the area.

Karauli. Residents of Maholi village in the Karauli district are grappling with fear following a series of aggressive hyena attacks that left three people severely injured. The victims, identified as Seema Bairwa, her husband Rakesh Bairwa, and another local woman named Gora Gaur, were rushed to the district hospital for urgent medical treatment. The incident has caused significant alarm throughout the community, as reports of livestock being targeted by the wild animal have also surfaced over the past two days.

The ordeal began when Seema and Rakesh Bairwa were ambushed by the animal while walking toward their fields on the outskirts of the village. In a desperate attempt to protect his wife and himself, Rakesh engaged the hyena with a sickle, eventually forcing it to retreat. Despite his efforts, both sustained serious injuries during the struggle. Local villagers, alerted by the commotion, arrived at the scene and immediately transported the couple to the hospital for professional care.

Shortly after the initial attack, the same area witnessed another violent encounter when a woman named Gora Gaur was targeted while walking to a local temple. She also suffered severe injuries and required hospitalization. Former district chief representative Rakshi Lal Bairwa, who arrived at the scene following reports from the villagers, coordinated with the hospital administration to ensure the victims received prompt attention. PMO Dr. Bhuvnesh Bansal is currently overseeing the medical care of the three injured individuals.

In response to the growing crisis, a forest department team led by Ranger Premchand Sen was deployed to Maholi. The officials successfully captured one hyena, though efforts to locate and secure any remaining animals in the vicinity continue. The forest department has assured the villagers that further measures will be taken to ensure public safety. Local residents have urged the administration to maintain a vigilant presence to protect both the villagers and their livestock from further harm as the community remains on high alert.
