Jaipur. Employees affiliated with the North Western Railway Employees Union (NWREU) held a significant demonstration at the railway headquarters in Jaipur on October 12, 2026. The protest, organized by the GLO branch, saw a large turnout of staff members who gathered at the office porch to voice their grievances regarding unresolved administrative and welfare concerns. The atmosphere was charged with slogans as workers demonstrated their unity, demanding that the administration take immediate and constructive action to address their long-standing requests.
Assistant General Secretary Rajiv Saran addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of staff dignity, workplace safety, and the provision of adequate facilities. He warned the administration that the continued neglect of these legitimate demands would no longer be tolerated. Key issues raised during the protest included the filling of vacant positions, the improvement of medical facilities for headquarters staff, and the replacement of outdated, damaged furniture. Furthermore, employees called for the operationalization of the new basement parking facility, the installation of CCTV cameras for two-wheeler security, and the establishment of a crèche within the office premises.
The protest also highlighted specific departmental concerns, with Vice President Narayan Singh calling for an end to arbitrary transfers within the accounts department. He urged the administration to ensure uniformity in promotions and to halt unfair recovery actions taken against employees shortly before their retirement. Additionally, there were strong appeals to fill empty posts in the construction department to alleviate the current workload on existing staff.
Assistant General Secretary Meena Saxena stressed that the administration must move beyond empty promises and implement time-bound, concrete solutions. She advocated for a secure and respectful working environment, particularly for female employees. Following the speeches, the demonstrators marched around the headquarters building to reiterate their resolve. Branch President Indrapal Singh concluded the event by demanding the construction of a fully equipped auditorium in place of the existing multipurpose hall, while thanking the participants for their unwavering commitment to the union's cause.
