Jaipur. A significant initiative to bridge the educational gap for children from nomadic communities was unveiled during the third annual festival of the Baba Ramdev Hostel in Jaipur. Operated by the Ghummantu Jati Utthan Nyas, the hostel serves as a vital hub for integrating these students into the mainstream academic system. The event, held at Mahaveer School in C-Scheme, marked the launch of the Ghummantu Pratibha Protsahan Scholarship Scheme, bolstered by a generous commitment of 51 lakh rupees.
The funding for this ambitious project is provided through the collaborative efforts of the Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA), New York, led by President Prem Bhandari, and the Chandra & K.K. Mehta Family Foundation. Organizers believe this financial support will act as a lifeline for talented students who have previously struggled to continue their education due to severe economic constraints.
During the ceremony, RSS senior functionary Durgadas emphasized that the scholarship, launched during the auspicious Navratri period, represents a crucial step toward securing the academic future of the nomadic community. He noted that providing resources to these students not only fosters self-reliance but also ensures they can lead lives of dignity. The contribution from the international donors was highlighted as a powerful example of social responsibility and commitment to educational equity.
Rakesh Kumar Sharma, the regional coordinator for nomadic welfare, shared that the trust currently manages 17 Baba Ramdev hostels across the state. These facilities are dedicated to providing consistent educational opportunities and a stable environment for children who might otherwise be left behind. The expansion of these efforts is seen as essential for creating a broader impact on the community's development.
The event was graced by several prominent figures, including Jaipur Member of Parliament Manju Sharma, who attended as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Mayor Sunil Kothari and Rajendra Koolwal, along with various social workers and educators. The celebration also featured cultural performances, including dance and short plays, showcasing the hidden talents of the students residing in the hostels.
This scholarship program is expected to serve as a catalyst for change, encouraging more families to prioritize schooling. By removing financial barriers, the initiative aims to turn the aspirations of many young students into reality, fostering a new generation of educated individuals within the nomadic society.
