Former BJP MLA Atar Singh Bhadana Succumbs to Injuries Following Violent Clash in Bharatpur

Former Bayana MLA Atar Singh Bhadana has died after a violent confrontation at his stone crusher plant in Bharatpur, sparking significant regional tension.

Vair, Bharatpur. A long-standing dispute over a stone crusher operation in the Vair police station area of Bharatpur turned fatal on Sunday evening, resulting in the death of former Bayana BJP MLA Atar Singh Bhadana. The incident, which occurred at a mining site in Bhonda village, has left the local community in a state of shock and heightened tension, prompting authorities to deploy significant police reinforcements to maintain order.

According to reports, the former legislator was present at the crusher plant, which is registered under his wife Kamlesh Bhadana’s name, when a large group of approximately 70 to 80 individuals allegedly launched a coordinated attack. Witnesses described a scene of chaos as the mob used sticks, stones, and other blunt objects to assault those present at the site. The former MLA and his associate, Gagan Sharma, sustained severe injuries during the altercation.

Both victims were initially rushed to the Vair Sub-District Hospital for emergency care. While Sharma was subsequently referred to a medical facility in Bharatpur, the condition of the former MLA was deemed critical, necessitating an urgent transfer to the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. Despite medical efforts, Bhadana passed away late Sunday night at approximately 11:30 PM.

Family members of the deceased have leveled serious allegations against the local administration, claiming that prior warnings regarding the escalating situation were ignored. Kamlesh Bhadana asserted that the plant had been subjected to harassment, including the cutting of power lines and intimidation of staff, long before the fatal clash. While family members have alleged that the former MLA was also shot during the attack, medical officials at the Vair hospital noted that initial examinations pointed toward severe blunt force trauma rather than gunshot wounds.

Conversely, local villagers have presented a different account, stating that they had been staging a peaceful protest for nearly two weeks regarding access to the road leading to the mining area. They claim the conflict erupted when individuals associated with the crusher plant attempted to forcibly remove the protesters. Police officials, including Vair Station House Officer Dhirendra Singh, confirmed that the conflict over the crusher operation had been simmering for two years. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation, including post-mortem procedures and the verification of conflicting claims regarding the use of firearms, while maintaining a heavy security presence in the area.
