Belgium-Raised Sisters to Unveil Ancient Indian Philosophy Through Bharatanatyam in Jaipur

Jaipur. In a unique cultural convergence, two sisters born and raised in Belgium are set to bring the profound depths of Indian philosophy to the stage in Jaipur. On August 29, 15-year-old Mihika and 12-year-old Aradhya will perform 'Shri Rishabhayan' at the Rajasthan International Centre, marking a significant milestone in their artistic journey through an Arangetram performance.

The production is meticulously designed to center on the life and teachings of Lord Rishabhdev, bridging the gap between classical art forms and the rich tapestry of Indian knowledge traditions. By exploring themes such as the transition from a life of indulgence to one of duty, the Panch Kalyanak, and the emotional nuances of devotion, the sisters aim to demonstrate that Indian classical arts are deeply rooted in a sophisticated worldview.

The choreography for this ambitious project has been conceptualized by Guru Nainika Kasliwal, founder of the Shri Virag Dance Academy. To ensure the authenticity of the narrative, Vatsalbhai Shah from Ahmedabad has curated and composed verses in Sanskrit, Prakrit, Hindi, Braj, and Gujarati, providing a linguistic foundation that reflects the diverse cultural streams of India.

The sisters' personal dedication to their heritage is as remarkable as their performance. Despite growing up in Belgium, they pursue a rigorous curriculum that includes Sanskrit, Vedic mathematics, Ayurveda, classical music, and astrology alongside their dance training. Notably, the duo maintains a disciplined lifestyle, eschewing modern digital distractions to focus entirely on their studies and the preservation of traditional wisdom.

This performance serves as a testament to the belief that art is not merely a form of entertainment but a vital tool for character development and internal growth. Through their interpretation of the 64 arts mentioned in Jain traditions, Mihika and Aradhya hope to inspire the younger generation to recognize the enduring relevance of their cultural roots.
