Jaipur. In a significant escalation of its efforts to eradicate substance abuse, the Rajasthan Police has launched a comprehensive drive that has resulted in the arrest of 8,842 individuals as of October 26. Under the strategic guidance of Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma, the force has registered 7,695 cases related to narcotics trafficking, marking a major push toward a drug-free state. The operation has not only focused on street-level dealers but has also targeted the economic foundations of these criminal networks.

The intensity of the crackdown was particularly evident during a specialized single-day operation conducted on October 26. Law enforcement officials registered 262 cases across the state, leading to the immediate arrest of 278 suspects. During this specific window, authorities successfully seized narcotics valued at approximately 2.91 crore rupees, including significant quantities of opium, poppy husk, cannabis, and synthetic drugs like MD. Furthermore, police teams raided six identified hotspots and apprehended eight key syndicate leaders.

Beyond immediate arrests, the broader campaign has yielded substantial results in dismantling the supply chain. Since the inception of the drive, police have seized narcotics with a staggering estimated market value of 1,244.20 crore rupees. This includes the destruction of 35 clandestine manufacturing facilities and targeted raids on 144 locations involved in illicit cultivation. The police have also impounded over 2,100 vehicles used in the transportation of contraband, effectively disrupting the logistics of these criminal enterprises.

A critical component of this initiative is the systematic targeting of assets acquired through illegal drug proceeds. Authorities have initiated proceedings against 75 properties linked to traffickers, with an estimated value of 30.25 crore rupees. By utilizing provisions under the NDPS Act, the police aim to cripple the financial viability of drug syndicates. These measures are designed to ensure that the illicit profits generated from the misery of others are stripped away from those responsible.

Recognizing that enforcement alone is insufficient, the police have actively engaged the community to foster long-term change. Over 3.63 lakh citizens have participated in the campaign, with nearly 3.6 lakh individuals taking a formal pledge to support a drug-free society. Through nearly 4,000 awareness programs, the force is working to educate the youth on the dangers of addiction. This multi-pronged strategy reflects the commitment of the Rajasthan Police to securing a safer and healthier future for the state through both rigorous legal action and public cooperation.
