Food Safety Officials Launch Diwali Crackdown on Mawa Quality in Sawai Madhopur
Ahead of Diwali, the food safety department in Sawai Madhopur has intensified inspections, collecting samples from local shops to curb potential adulteration.
Sawai Madhopur. With the festive season of Diwali approaching, the local food safety department has ramped up its efforts to ensure that residents have access to pure and safe food products. In a targeted operation conducted at the district headquarters, a specialized team carried out surprise inspections at two prominent mawa shops to assess the quality of dairy products being sold to the public.
The initiative, which is being carried out under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Anil Jaimini, focuses on the rising demand for mawa and sweets during the festive period. As part of the inspection, the team scrutinized the storage conditions, overall hygiene standards, and the general quality of the ingredients used by the vendors to ensure they meet safety regulations.
During the operation, food safety officers collected enforcement samples of mawa from both establishments. These samples have been properly sealed and dispatched to a government laboratory for rigorous testing. Officials have confirmed that if the laboratory results indicate that the products are substandard or adulterated, strict legal action will be initiated against the shop owners in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Beyond the collection of samples, the inspection team provided clear instructions to shopkeepers regarding the maintenance of sanitary conditions. Vendors were advised to ensure that their staff utilizes gloves and caps during the preparation of sweets and to avoid the storage of stale or contaminated food items. The department emphasized that maintaining high standards of cleanliness is mandatory for all food business operators.
The food safety department has announced that this special surveillance campaign will continue throughout the district until the conclusion of the Diwali festival. The ongoing drive will cover a wide range of establishments dealing in milk, paneer, edible oils, and various confectionery items. The primary objective remains the prevention of the sale of adulterated goods to protect consumer health.
Authorities have also issued an appeal to the general public to remain vigilant while purchasing festive treats. Consumers are encouraged to check the quality and storage conditions of sweets and mawa before making a purchase. Any concerns regarding the quality of food products should be reported immediately to the relevant department to help maintain safety standards across the region.
