Jaipur. Director General of Police for Rajasthan, Rajeev Kumar Sharma, conducted a formal inspection of the Child Protection Centre located at the Rajasthan Police Academy this week. During his visit, the police chief engaged with officials and members of the unit, which operates in collaboration with UNICEF, to outline a strategic roadmap for enhancing the safety and security of minors across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Director General emphasized that addressing the evolving challenges related to child safety requires a shift toward research-based innovation. He highlighted that as the digital landscape changes, the risks to children have become more complex, necessitating a proactive approach that integrates academic research with practical law enforcement strategies. He urged the team to focus on evidence-based studies to better understand the specific issues emerging in various districts.

The police chief specifically pointed to the growing threat of cybercrimes and the urgent need for robust prevention mechanisms against sexual offenses involving children. He directed the center to prioritize the development of capacity-building programs for parents and key stakeholders, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge to identify and mitigate risks effectively. The findings from the proposed research initiatives are expected to serve as the foundation for future public awareness campaigns.

The center operates under the direct supervision of the Director General, with guidance provided by Academy Director and Additional Director General of Police Sanjeev Kumar Narzary. The collaborative effort aims to create a comprehensive framework for child protection that is both responsive to current trends and grounded in legal standards.

UNICEF child protection expert Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nirala also contributed to the discussions, stressing the importance of regular training for stakeholders. He noted that the involvement of subject matter experts is crucial for the successful implementation of legal provisions and the overall enhancement of protection protocols. The session was attended by several senior officials, including Additional Director Shankar Dutt Sharma and representatives from the UNICEF team, who collectively reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the youth of Rajasthan through systematic and data-driven interventions.
