Bharatpur. A somber atmosphere descended upon the Sita village area in Bharatpur following the recovery of a 60-year-old man from the local reservoir. The deceased, identified as Thansingh, a resident of Mangrain Khurd, had been reported missing by his family members for the past three days. The discovery was made by local villagers who noticed an unattended motorcycle parked near the embankment of the Sita Bandh during their morning routine.
Upon closer inspection, the villagers found several personal items, including a mobile phone, keys, and footwear, left near the vehicle. Their suspicion grew when they observed a body floating in the water, prompting an immediate notification to the Weir police station. Assistant Sub-Inspector Brijbhan Singh arrived at the scene shortly thereafter to initiate the recovery process.
The gravity of the situation drew senior law enforcement officials to the site, including Additional Superintendent of Police Prerna Shekhawat and Circle Officer Neeraj Bhardwaj, who conducted a thorough inspection of the area. With the assistance of local residents, the police successfully retrieved the body from the reservoir. The identification was confirmed after investigators traced the registration of the abandoned motorcycle to the victim's son, Arun Kumar.
Family members revealed that Thansingh had departed from his home three days prior without informing anyone, leading to an extensive search effort. Records indicate that this was not the first time the man had gone missing; he had previously been reported lost to the Bayana Sadar police station on August 30, at which time he was safely reunited with his family.
Following the recovery, the police performed a formal inquest and transported the body to the government hospital in Weir for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary observations by the authorities noted no visible signs of severe external injury on the body. The remains have since been handed over to the grieving family. Law enforcement officials are currently conducting an investigation to determine the underlying circumstances that led the elderly man to take such a drastic step, as they continue to interview relatives to piece together his final movements.
