KARAULI. Congress party members in Karauli organized a significant demonstration this week as part of their nationwide Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao campaign. The protest, which began with a march from the district party office, culminated in a gathering at the local Collectorate where participants voiced strong concerns regarding the integrity of the current electoral process.
Led by District Congress President and Todabhim MLA Ghanshyam Mahar, the demonstrators demanded a high-level, impartial investigation into alleged discrepancies within voter lists and broader voting procedures. The party leaders argued that the foundation of a healthy democracy relies entirely on transparent and fair elections, asserting that public trust in the system is currently at stake due to these reported inconsistencies.
During the demonstration, the atmosphere grew tense as party workers raised slogans against the central government and the Election Commission. The protest included the burning of effigies representing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Speakers at the event emphasized that the primary objective of their movement is to protect democratic rights and ensure the sanctity of the electoral system remains intact.
The event saw participation from several prominent figures, including Hindaun MLA Anita Jatav, former MLA Lakhan Singh, and PCC Secretary Bhupendra Bhardwaj. Other senior leaders, such as Kanhaiya Lal, Bhupendra Solanki, Naresh Gurjar, and Ramgopal Mali, were also present alongside a large contingent of party supporters. The leaders collectively called for the immediate removal of the Chief Election Commissioner, citing a lack of confidence in the current leadership of the commission.
As the protest concluded, the delegation submitted a formal memorandum to the administration, outlining their specific demands for electoral reform and accountability. The party stated that this campaign is designed to raise awareness among the general public about the importance of their voting rights and the necessity of maintaining vigilance over the electoral process to prevent any potential manipulation or administrative oversight.
