Sawai Madhopur. The gateway to the world-renowned Ranthambore National Park, Sawai Madhopur railway station, has become a site of significant frustration for travelers due to newly installed security infrastructure. Authorities have erected a complex maze of iron pipes at the primary entry and exit points, intended to manage foot traffic and enhance security. However, the resulting configuration has created an extremely narrow passage that complicates movement for everyone passing through the station premises.
The current layout forces passengers to navigate a restrictive zig-zag path that is proving difficult even for individuals without luggage. For the many domestic and international tourists arriving to visit the nearby wildlife sanctuary, the situation is particularly challenging. Travelers carrying large suitcases or trolley bags frequently find their belongings caught within the metal framework, causing immediate bottlenecks and long queues that disrupt the flow of people entering or leaving the station.
Vulnerable groups, including elderly passengers, children, and women, are facing the greatest hardship while attempting to traverse these iron obstacles. The design allows only one person to pass at a time, leading to frequent confrontations and pushing matches when crowds from arriving trains meet those attempting to board. This congestion is exacerbated during the arrival of major express services, where hundreds of passengers simultaneously attempt to exit the platform area.
Local residents and frequent commuters have raised serious concerns regarding the potential for a major accident. Given the station's status as a busy junction on the Delhi-Mumbai line, the risk of a stampede or injury during peak hours remains a constant worry. Public sentiment is growing in favor of an immediate review by railway officials to either remove these restrictive barriers or redesign the entry points to ensure a safer and more efficient passage for all visitors.
