Barmer. AICC Madhya Pradesh in-charge and Baytu MLA Harish Chaudhary visited Barmer on Wednesday to spearhead preparations for the upcoming 2026 Panchayati Raj elections. During his visit, he engaged with party workers, local office bearers, and potential candidates to discuss organizational strengthening and electoral strategy. The discussions focused on enhancing coordination at the grassroots level to ensure a robust performance in the forthcoming polls.

At the District Congress Committee office, Chaudhary emphasized the necessity of local-level unity and proactive campaign management. He urged party members to focus on building a strong organizational structure that can effectively address local issues and resonate with the electorate. The meetings served as a platform for workers to share their insights and align their efforts with the party's broader objectives for the rural local body elections.

Beyond electoral planning, the MLA participated in the 'March for Democracy' organized by the Barmer District Congress Committee. The protest march, which proceeded from the party office to Indira Circle, saw party members demanding the resignation and arrest of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Addressing the gathering, Chaudhary highlighted the concerns raised by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding the transparency and functioning of the Election Commission.

Chaudhary asserted that institutional accountability is paramount in a democracy and pledged that the Congress party would continue to raise its voice through constitutional means. He stressed that the protection of the public's voting rights and the integrity of the electoral process remain central to the party's mission. He reiterated that the party would continue its struggle both on the streets and in legislative forums to safeguard democratic values.

In a separate session at the Mangta Panchayat Samiti, Chaudhary held detailed deliberations with local leaders and potential candidates regarding the candidate selection process. He stated that the party aims to prioritize the consensus of local workers and public interest when choosing representatives. The focus remains on fielding strong, popular candidates who are deeply connected to the grassroots. He expressed confidence that the public would support the party's commitment to development and democratic principles in the upcoming elections.
