Deeg. Local law enforcement in Deeg district has achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to apprehend wanted criminals through the specialized Operation Shikanja 2.0 initiative. Under the strategic guidance of Superintendent of Police Sharan Gopinath K., the Sikri police station successfully tracked down and arrested a suspect who had been evading capture following a heinous crime against a minor.

The investigation began after the victim's father filed a formal complaint at the Sikri police station on September 13, 2026. According to the official report, the incident occurred on the morning of September 10, 2026, when the young girl was walking toward a field to collect fodder for livestock. The perpetrator allegedly intercepted her along the path and subjected her to sexual assault.

Following the filing of the complaint, authorities registered a case under file number 330/2026. The charges were filed under section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, commonly known as the POCSO Act. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Station House Officer Mukesh Kumar, a police inspector, spearheaded the formation of a dedicated investigative team to locate the suspect.

The breakthrough arrived on October 6, 2026, when police received credible intelligence regarding the suspect's whereabouts. Acting swiftly on this information, the team conducted a targeted operation at the Gulpada bus stand, where they successfully apprehended 31-year-old Arif, the son of Kundan Haji, a resident of Kakrala village within the Sikri police jurisdiction. Following his detention, investigators confirmed his involvement in the crime and placed him under formal arrest.

The accused is currently undergoing intensive interrogation as police work to finalize the legal proceedings. The successful operation was executed by a team including Station House Officer Mukesh Kumar, alongside constables Aziz Singh, Manoj Kumar, and Bhupendra Singh. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and maintaining public safety through the continued implementation of the Operation Shikanja 2.0 framework across the district.
