Family Protests After Patient Dies at Bharatpur Hospital Amid Allegations of Negligence

Tensions flared at Jindal Hospital in Bharatpur as relatives of a 40-year-old woman refused to accept her body, alleging medical negligence during treatment.

Bharatpur. A tragic incident at Jindal Hospital in Bharatpur has sparked a major confrontation between the medical facility management and the family of a deceased patient. Renu Chaudhary, a 40-year-old resident of Barauli Chauth village, passed away while undergoing treatment, leading her grieving relatives to allege severe negligence by the hospital staff. The situation escalated into a protest within the hospital premises, with family members reportedly causing damage to property as they demanded accountability for the loss of their loved one.

According to the husband of the deceased, Somveer, the patient had initially sought medical attention in Deeg due to persistent abdominal pain. Following a referral, she was admitted to Jindal Hospital at approximately 11:00 PM on Tuesday. Somveer claims that upon arrival, the staff informed him that no doctors were immediately available and insisted that his wife be moved to the intensive care unit due to her critical condition. The family asserts that they were denied access to the patient and received no clear updates regarding her health status throughout the night.

The family was finally summoned at 6:00 AM on Wednesday when a doctor informed them that Renu had already died during the night. This sudden revelation triggered an immediate and heated argument between the relatives and the medical staff. The family maintains that while Renu occasionally struggled with high blood sugar levels, she did not suffer from any chronic or life-threatening illnesses that would explain such a rapid decline. The couple has two children, and the husband, who works in Jodhpur, is now seeking a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Local law enforcement responded promptly to the scene to manage the unrest. Station House Officer Tejpal of the Kotwali police station arrived with a team to assess the situation and mediate between the agitated family and the hospital administration. Shortly thereafter, City CO Ashima Vaishnavi also reached the hospital to oversee the proceedings. As of now, the family remains steadfast in their refusal to accept the body until their grievances are addressed. The hospital management has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations of medical malpractice.
