Jhalawar. In a major crackdown against human trafficking, Jhalawar police have rescued six minor girls who were allegedly being forced into prostitution under the guise of regressive social customs. The operation, conducted in the Bhawanimandi police station area, followed an extensive investigation involving decoy operations and high-tech surveillance. Authorities have confirmed that five of the rescued minors showed clear evidence of repeated sexual exploitation, while medical examinations revealed that two of the girls were suffering from sexually transmitted diseases.
The investigation began after a confidential complaint was filed on October 7, alleging that families within the Banchada community were forcing their minor daughters into the sex trade. Following these reports, a special investigation team was formed under the guidance of Assistant Superintendent of Police Ayush Shrotriya. Using spy cameras and field intelligence, the team gathered digital evidence of illicit activities and financial transactions involving local brokers and family members.
On November 3, a massive coordinated raid was executed by over 100 police personnel, including plainclothes female officers. During the search, forensic teams recovered significant quantities of incriminating material, including contraceptives, and documented the scene for further legal proceedings. The operation successfully secured the rescue of six girls aged between 13 and 17 years, who have since been placed under the care of the Child Welfare Committee for protection and rehabilitation.
Five primary suspects, including the mothers and close relatives of the victims, were arrested following the raid. The accused have been identified as Hira Bai, Dhapu Bai, Rodi Bai, Chhanmal, and Pappu. They are currently in police custody for further interrogation as authorities work to identify other members of the network. The suspects face charges under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police department has emphasized that this operation serves as a stern warning against those exploiting minors under the pretext of tradition. Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar stated that the department is prioritizing the psychological counseling and long-term rehabilitation of the survivors. A Special Investigation Team has been tasked with ensuring a swift and thorough prosecution, with forensic reports being expedited to strengthen the case against the perpetrators.
