Jaipur. In a proactive move to ensure public health during the festive season, the food safety department of Jaipur II has intensified its monitoring of local sweet shops. Acting under the state-wide campaign against food adulteration, teams conducted surprise inspections across the Bassi and Jobner regions to verify the quality of ingredients used in popular festive treats.

During the operation in Bassi, officials collected ten samples from prominent establishments including Shri Jodhpur Misthan Bhandar, Balaji Misthan Bhandar, and Shri Ram Misthan Bhandar. The items seized for laboratory testing primarily focused on dairy-based products such as mawa barfi, mawa sweets, and pure ghee. Similar inspections were carried out at Ganga Dham Mor and Tunga Road, where shops like Lal Ji Jodhpur Sweets and Sharma Sweets were scrutinized for compliance with safety standards.

The inspection drive extended to the Jobner area, where three additional samples were procured from Panna Misthan Bhandar, Jodhana Misthan Bhandar, and Shiv Shakti Misthan Bhandar. These samples, consisting of rasgullas, kalakand, and mishri mawa, have been dispatched to the state food laboratory for detailed analysis. Officials confirmed that further legal action will be initiated against any establishment found violating the Food Safety and Standards Act once the test reports are finalized.

Beyond the collection of samples, the department emphasized the importance of hygiene and quality control. Shop owners were strictly instructed to ensure that only high-quality mawa is used in production and that the use of artificial food coloring remains within permissible limits. Furthermore, the teams directed vendors to maintain clean premises, cover all food items to prevent contamination, and prominently display their valid food licenses for customer awareness.

The authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing the sale of substandard or contaminated food products during the Diwali period. By conducting these rigorous checks, the department aims to protect consumers from health risks associated with adulterated sweets. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerns regarding food quality to the local health authorities as the festive demand for sweets continues to rise.
