Sawai Madhopur. The stage is set for the third phase of the Panchayati Raj institution elections in Sawai Madhopur, with polling scheduled for Tuesday across four key panchayat samitis. Voters in Khandar, Malarna Dungar, Bamanwas, and Bonli will head to the polls to determine the political future of candidates vying for seats in the Zila Parishad and local panchayat committees. A total of 435,677 registered voters are eligible to exercise their franchise across 498 designated polling stations.
District Election Officer Kanaram has overseen comprehensive arrangements to ensure that the voting process remains free, fair, and peaceful. Election teams are undergoing final training sessions on Monday before departing with the necessary polling materials to their respective stations. The voting window is officially set from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the administration implementing strict security and monitoring protocols at every location to maintain order throughout the day.
Bamanwas emerges as the largest constituency in this phase, hosting 132,370 voters across 156 polling stations, including 70,998 men and 61,372 women. Khandar follows with 118,911 voters at 134 stations, while Bonli and Malarna Dungar will facilitate voting for 99,572 and 84,924 citizens respectively. These figures highlight the significant scale of the democratic exercise currently unfolding across the district.
The electoral contest involves 90 candidates competing for 31 Zila Parishad wards, alongside 245 candidates battling for 80 panchayat samiti seats. While most wards are witnessing intense competition, two seats in Malarna Dungar have already been decided with candidates elected unopposed. The results of this phase will set the stage for subsequent elections for Sarpanch, Up-Sarpanch, and eventually the district leadership roles scheduled throughout November.
Local authorities have issued a strong appeal to all eligible citizens to participate enthusiastically in this festival of democracy. By casting their votes without fear, residents will play a pivotal role in shaping the local governance structure for the coming term. All eyes remain fixed on Tuesday as the final tallies will reveal the shifting political equations across these four vital panchayat samitis.
