Deeg. Law enforcement officials in Deeg have successfully intercepted a potential security threat ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections. Acting under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Sharan Gopinath K., local police and the District Special Team launched a coordinated operation to curb illegal activities and ensure a peaceful voting environment. This initiative led to the apprehension of a young man suspected of planning to intimidate voters through the display of illicit weaponry.

The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Afsar, a resident of Levda village, was taken into custody on October 29. A joint team led by Kaman Station House Officer Sunil Kumar intercepted the individual following intelligence reports regarding efforts to influence election outcomes through fear. During the initial search, officers discovered a locally manufactured double-barrel firearm, specifically a 315-bore weapon, which was immediately seized as evidence.

Following his arrest, the accused was booked under the relevant sections of the Arms Act at the Kaman police station. During subsequent interrogation, the suspect provided information that led investigators to recover three live cartridges associated with the weapon. The investigation is currently being handled by Assistant Sub-Inspector Jawahar Singh to determine if there are further connections or larger networks involved in the distribution of these illegal arms.

The operation involved a dedicated team of officers, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Khaimsingh and constables Omveer, Lakhan Singh, and Anil Kumar. The District Special Team, led by Sub-Inspector Virendra Singh, also played a crucial role in the successful outcome. Their collective efforts are part of a broader strategy to maintain law and order across the district as the administration prepares for the democratic process.

Police officials have reiterated their commitment to conducting fair and fearless elections. They are maintaining strict surveillance on individuals suspected of possessing illegal weapons or attempting to disrupt the electoral process. The authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure that the upcoming panchayat polls proceed without any untoward incidents.
