Election Pressure Sparks Violent Clash in Digh Village Leaving Several Injured

A dispute over voting preferences in Sabora village escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in multiple injuries and cross-complaints at Kumher police station.

Kumher, Deeg. Tensions surrounding the upcoming Sarpanch elections in Sabora village, located within the Kumher police station area of Deeg district, erupted into a violent physical confrontation on Sunday afternoon. The dispute, which centered on allegations of voter intimidation, resulted in multiple injuries and prompted both involved parties to file cross-complaints with local law enforcement.

According to reports from the scene, the conflict began when two individuals, identified as Ranjeet and Veer Singh, allegedly pressured residents to cast their votes for a specific candidate named Babu. This incident follows a similar disagreement that occurred three days prior, which had already led to a formal complaint being lodged at the Kumher police station on Saturday.

The situation deteriorated rapidly on Sunday when the accused parties reportedly renewed their demands regarding voting preferences. What began as a verbal argument quickly escalated into a violent clash involving sticks and clubs. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as members of the two factions confronted one another, leading to significant injuries among those involved.

The most severe injuries were sustained by Gaurav, the son of a local resident named Gopal, and his cousin Sachin. Both individuals suffered head wounds during the altercation, while four other family members associated with the group sustained minor injuries. The victims were promptly transported to a nearby medical facility to receive treatment for their wounds.

In response to the violence, both factions have approached the Kumher police to register formal grievances against each other. Station House Officer Jitendra Chaudhary confirmed that the department has received cross-complaints regarding the incident. He stated that the police are currently in the process of registering FIRs for both sides and have initiated a formal investigation to ensure appropriate legal action is taken against those responsible for the disturbance.
