Jaipur. In a significant move to enhance the safety and empowerment of women across Rajasthan, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated 100 new Kalika Patrolling Units during the auspicious festival of Navratri. Speaking at a special event held at the Constitution Club, the Chief Minister emphasized that ensuring a secure environment for women is a top priority for the state government, allowing them to pursue education, employment, and social activities without fear.
To support the personnel serving in these units, the Chief Minister announced a fixed monthly travel allowance, bringing their benefits in line with other police staff stationed at local stations. This initiative is designed to boost the morale of the female officers who serve as the frontline of defense against antisocial elements. The Chief Minister urged these officers to perform their duties with sensitivity, discipline, and courage, noting that their presence is vital for building public trust in law enforcement.
Highlighting the impact of current security measures, the Chief Minister noted that incidents of crimes against women have seen a reduction of approximately 48 percent compared to 2023. Furthermore, the average investigation time for such cases has been significantly shortened. These improvements are attributed to the proactive work of the Kalika units, which have taken action against over 55,000 antisocial elements and provided self-defense training to more than 1.6 million women and girls.
The state government is also leveraging technology and community engagement to strengthen safety. With over 12,500 CCTV cameras installed under the Abhay Command and Control Center and a dedicated helpline that has resolved over 28,000 complaints, the infrastructure for protection is expanding. Additionally, the government has integrated over 260,000 community members, including youth CLG members and village guards, to foster a collaborative approach to policing.
The Chief Minister concluded by calling for regular meetings between police stations and community members to ensure that local concerns are addressed promptly. He stressed that the ultimate measure of successful law and order is the confidence that citizens, particularly women and children, feel when interacting with the police. The event concluded with the official flagging off of the new units, marking a renewed commitment to the safety of the state's female population.
