High-Voltage Surge in Bharatpur Village Leaves One Dead and Two Critically Injured

A massive 11 KV power surge in Bachrain village caused a deep freezer explosion, resulting in a fatality and sparking protests against the electricity department.

BHUSAVAR. A devastating electrical accident occurred in Bachrain village, located within the Kherli Mod police station area, when a high-voltage current surged through residential properties on Tuesday evening. Between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, an 11 KV line reportedly malfunctioned, sending a lethal surge into approximately 80 to 100 homes across the Koli Basti and Teli Mohalla neighborhoods. The sudden spike in voltage caused widespread damage, destroying numerous household electrical appliances and triggering a tragic loss of life.

The most severe impact was felt at a local grocery store, where a deep freezer exploded upon receiving the high-voltage charge. Ravi Jat, aged 30, and 24-year-old Vishal were seated near the appliance when the blast occurred. Both men sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the Mahwa Government Hospital. Medical staff declared Ravi Jat dead upon arrival, while Vishal was stabilized and subsequently referred to the Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur for advanced trauma care.

Another resident, 50-year-old Kallo Devi, also suffered severe burns after coming into contact with the electrified household infrastructure. She remains under intensive medical observation alongside Vishal at the SMS Hospital in Jaipur, where doctors have described their conditions as critical. Shop owner Amit Kumar, who was present during the incident, narrowly escaped injury by standing at a distance from the freezer when the explosion took place.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, local residents gathered to protest against the electricity department, citing gross negligence in maintaining the local power grid. The villagers placed the body of the deceased at the site and refused to move until their demands for accountability were met. While local police and Assistant Engineer Narottam Sharma arrived to assess the situation, the community continues to demand a thorough investigation into the technical failure.

The protesters are calling for strict disciplinary action against the responsible officials and staff members. Furthermore, the families of the deceased and the injured are seeking adequate financial compensation from the state government. As of the latest reports, the situation remains tense in the village, with authorities attempting to negotiate with the grieving families to restore order while the investigation into the power surge continues.
