Jaipur. In a proactive move to ensure public health during the festive season, a specialized team of food safety officers conducted a series of surprise inspections in the Kishangarh Renwal area on November 5, 2026. This operation was carried out under the state government's ongoing campaign against food adulteration, following directives from Food Safety Commissioner Avichal Chaturvedi.

The inspection team targeted approximately half a dozen establishments, including prominent sweet manufacturers, retail outlets, and dairy production units. The primary objective was to verify the quality of food products being prepared for the upcoming Diwali celebrations. During the drive, officials collected various samples of traditional sweets and raw ingredients, which have since been dispatched to the state food analysis laboratory for rigorous testing.

Dr. Manish Mittal, Chief Medical and Health Officer for Jaipur II, confirmed that the samples include a wide range of items such as mawa, milk cake, various types of laddus, barfi, jalebi, petha, rasgulla, makkhan bada, and gujiya. Additionally, samples of cooking oils and spices were also seized to check for potential contamination or substandard quality. These items are essential staples during the festive period, making their safety a top priority for the health department.

Beyond the collection of samples, the visiting team engaged in counseling sessions with local traders. Business owners were strictly advised to maintain high hygiene standards and ensure that all prepared sweets are stored at appropriate temperatures to prevent spoilage. The department emphasized that maintaining the cold chain is critical for dairy-based products, especially given the high demand during the festival.

The authorities have made it clear that the process will not end with the inspections. Once the laboratory reports are received, any firm found to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 will face stringent legal action. This campaign serves as a stern warning to those who might compromise consumer health for profit during the busy festive season, ensuring that residents can celebrate with safe and hygienic food products.
