Jaipur. In a significant move to curb adulteration during the peak festive season, the Food Safety Department of Jaipur launched a targeted inspection drive across major dairy and mawa production units. The operation, which spanned from late Friday night into the early hours of Saturday, focused on the critical stretch between Chithwari Mod and Gathwara, where demand for dairy products surges significantly.

Led by Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Ravi Shekhawat under the guidance of Commissioner Dr. Avichal Chaturvedi, the inspection team scrutinized several prominent establishments. These included Shri Balaji Mawa Bhandar, S.S. Dairy, Shri Shyam Mawa Paneer Udyog, and Mahir Mawa Bhandar located along the Delhi Road, as well as M.K. Enterprises and Alankar Mawa Paneer Bhandar at Chithwari Mod.

During the intensive checks, officials examined the entire production lifecycle, ranging from the quality of incoming milk and raw materials to the storage conditions and overall hygiene standards of the facilities. To verify the safety of the products reaching consumers, the team collected 14 samples of mawa and mixed milk, which have been dispatched to the laboratory for detailed analysis. Further legal action will be determined based on the forthcoming test results.

The inspection revealed widespread lapses in sanitation and hygiene protocols. Furthermore, many operators failed to produce mandatory documentation, including medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control reports. Consequently, the department issued formal improvement notices to several businesses, including S.S. Dairy and M.K. Enterprises, citing violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Operators have been strictly instructed to maintain rigorous cleanliness, ensure proper storage of food items, and keep all required health and safety documentation updated. Dr. Shekhawat emphasized that the department remains committed to protecting public health and will continue its surveillance and sampling efforts throughout the festive period to ensure that only safe and unadulterated products are available in the market.
