Karauli. Tensions flared in Karauli on Saturday as members of the Congress party organized a public demonstration to express their strong disapproval of recent remarks made by the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Madan Singh Rathore. The protest, which took place under the directives of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, saw party workers gather to voice their dissent regarding the leader's statements concerning Pakistan.
Led by District Congress President and Todabhim MLA Ghanshyam Mehar, the demonstrators marched through the streets before burning an effigy of the BJP leader. The participants raised slogans against the state leadership, emphasizing that their protest was rooted in the need to uphold national security and respect for the armed forces. The atmosphere remained charged as party members gathered to demand accountability for the controversial comments.
During the demonstration, Ghanshyam Mehar addressed the crowd, highlighting the gravity of issues related to national security. He specifically referenced the tragic Pulwama terror attack, which claimed the lives of 40 soldiers, and the recent violence in Pahalgam. Mehar argued that such sensitive matters, which have caused immense pain to the nation and the families of victims, should be addressed with greater responsibility and sensitivity by political leaders.
The Congress leadership asserted that the party remains steadfast in its commitment to national integrity and the honor of those who have sacrificed their lives for the country. They maintained that public discourse on matters of national interest must prioritize the sentiments of citizens and the families affected by terrorism. According to the organizers, the protest served as a platform to remind political figures of their duty to speak with caution on issues that impact the collective conscience of the nation.
The event saw the participation of several prominent local leaders, including PCC Secretary Bhupendra Bhardwaj, Lajjaram Verma, Deendayal Sharma, and Professor Vishram Bairwa, among others. The party leaders concluded the demonstration by reaffirming their intent to continue raising their voices on issues concerning democratic values and national honor. The protest concluded without any reports of major disruptions, though it underscored the ongoing political friction between the two major parties in the region.
