Sumerpur Residents Face Imminent Danger as Dilapidated Utility Pole Remains Unaddressed

Sumerpur. A critical safety hazard has emerged on the Juna Jakhoda Road in Sumerpur, where a severely dilapidated electricity pole stands at the corner of the path leading to the local cemetery. The structure has deteriorated to such an extent that its base is completely compromised, with internal iron wires exposed and protruding, signaling an imminent risk of collapse. Despite the clear and present danger to pedestrians and commuters, the situation remains unchanged four days after the issue was brought to the attention of the sub-divisional administration and the relevant power department.

The current state of the pole is alarming, as it appears structurally unstable and could fail at any moment. This particular route is frequently used by the public and those visiting the cemetery, significantly increasing the potential for a tragic accident should the pole fall. The visible decay of the base and the exposed reinforcement bars serve as a stark warning that the infrastructure is no longer capable of supporting its own weight, yet no preventative measures have been implemented to secure the area or replace the damaged unit.

Local observers and residents are increasingly frustrated by the lack of response from officials. Although the matter was highlighted in the media to prompt immediate intervention, the administration has yet to take any concrete steps to rectify the hazard. This delay has sparked concerns regarding the accountability of the local authorities, who seem to be waiting for a major incident to occur before taking the necessary action to ensure public safety.

The community is now questioning the efficiency of the maintenance protocols currently in place. With the danger clearly visible and the department already informed, the continued inaction is difficult to justify. Residents are urging the administration to conduct an immediate site inspection and prioritize the replacement of the pole before a preventable tragedy occurs. The question remains whether the authorities will act proactively to protect citizens or if they will only respond after a disaster has already taken place.
