Andhra Pradesh poised to become a global manufacturing powerhouse, says PM Modi

Bhogapuram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday declared that Andhra Pradesh is on the verge of becoming a premier manufacturing destination, bolstered by the strategic vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Speaking at a public gathering following the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram, the Prime Minister emphasized that the state is successfully cultivating a comprehensive industrial ecosystem designed to attract global investment and foster technology-driven growth.

The newly unveiled airport, constructed with an investment exceeding Rs 5,700 crore, stands as a cornerstone of this developmental push. With an initial capacity to handle 6 million passengers annually, the facility is engineered for future expansion up to 40 million passengers. The terminal design, inspired by the flying fish, pays homage to the maritime heritage of the region while serving as a vital catalyst for exports, skill development, and industrial research in north Andhra Pradesh.

Highlighting the state's growing economic appeal, the Prime Minister noted that major global corporations are increasingly viewing Andhra Pradesh as a key investment destination. He specifically pointed to Google's commitment to establish a 15 billion dollar AI and cloud infrastructure campus in Visakhapatnam as a testament to the state's rising profile. Furthermore, the Union government is actively supporting the development of a mega pharma park in Naka Palli, which is expected to solidify the state's position as a national leader in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu lauded the Prime Minister's role in reviving the state's economic trajectory, describing the new airport as a jewel for the Uttarandhra region. He expressed gratitude toward the landowners who contributed their property for the project, framing their sacrifice as an investment in a prosperous future for the state. Looking ahead, the Chief Minister outlined ambitious timelines for upcoming infrastructure milestones, including the dedication of the Polavaram project in 2027 and the inauguration of the first phase of Amaravati in 2028.

The Prime Minister concluded his visit by emphasizing the pivotal role of India's youth in driving the nation's rapid economic progress. During a separate event in Mysuru, he praised the younger generation for their contributions to sectors ranging from semiconductor manufacturing and space exploration to the burgeoning digital economy, noting that their ingenuity is essential to India's emergence as a global leader in innovation and technology.
