Farmer in Pali district struggles for over a month as power supply remains disconnected

Sumerpur. A distressing situation has emerged from Korta village in the Sumerpur subdivision, where a local farmer has been left without electricity for his agricultural well for more than a month. The crisis began when an 11kV power line and its supporting pole collapsed, effectively halting all irrigation activities on his land. Despite the farmer's persistent efforts to seek assistance from the electricity department, the infrastructure remains in a state of disrepair, leaving his standing crops in a precarious position.

The farmer claims that he had proactively alerted the authorities about the hazardous condition of the power line, which had become entangled in a tree, warning them of a potential accident. Unfortunately, those warnings went unheeded until the line eventually gave way during adverse weather conditions. Since the incident, the farmer has made numerous visits to the offices of the Junior Engineer, Assistant Engineer, and Executive Engineer, yet his pleas for restoration have been met with empty promises rather than concrete action.

To expedite the repair process, the farmer reportedly complied with every demand set forth by the department. He cleared the area around the fallen pole and even removed the tree at his own personal expense, fulfilling all stipulated conditions. Despite these efforts, the department has failed to initiate the necessary repairs, leaving the farmer to watch his fields suffer from a lack of water during a critical growth period.

The prolonged neglect has sparked frustration among local residents, who view this incident as a symptom of broader administrative apathy. The community is now calling upon the district administration and senior officials of the power utility to intervene immediately to restore electricity. They are also demanding an inquiry into the conduct of the local staff to ensure accountability for the negligence that has caused significant financial distress to the farmer.
