Churu administration gears up for massive plantation drive on July 22

Churu. District Collector Abhishek Surana presided over a weekly review meeting at the DOIT video conferencing hall, setting the stage for a district-wide plantation mega-campaign scheduled for July 22. During the session, the Collector emphasized that the Hariyalo Rajasthan initiative represents a collective commitment to environmental preservation rather than a one-day ceremonial event. He instructed officials to ensure that every department meets its assigned targets while prioritizing the long-term survival of the saplings through robust irrigation and maintenance protocols.

The administration has mandated the geo-tagging of all planted saplings to maintain accountability. Development officers have been tasked with leading plantation activities in rural areas, with a specific focus on encouraging public participation and involving non-governmental organizations to transform the initiative into a widespread community movement. The Collector stressed that simply completing numerical targets is insufficient, and the focus must remain on the health and growth of the greenery.

Beyond the environmental campaign, the meeting addressed the ongoing rural and urban service camps. Collector Surana directed officials to handle public grievances with utmost seriousness, ensuring that every visitor receives a quality resolution on the spot. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate data entry during these camps to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive timely access to state welfare schemes.

Reviewing the Sampark portal, the administration warned against the superficial closure of complaints. Officials are now required to verify the actual satisfaction of complainants and take concrete actions on unresolved cases. The meeting also covered progress on the VBG-Ramji scheme, where the Collector ordered the swift issuance of administrative and financial approvals to expedite development works. Furthermore, he reviewed the status of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, instructing officials to accelerate housing construction and initiate recovery proceedings against beneficiaries who have failed to utilize funds for their intended purpose.

The session concluded with a comprehensive review of various other initiatives, including the OBC survey, water conservation efforts, and the Swachh Bharat Mission. Key officials, including CEO Shweta Kochar and ACEO Bhagchand Khariya, attended the meeting, while sub-divisional officers participated via video conference to receive directives on meeting their respective departmental goals.
