Political heat rises over Paveshwar Mahadev temple theft in Pali

Sumerpur. The investigation into the theft of valuable silver crowns and umbrellas from the ancient Paveshwar Mahadev temple in Pava village has taken a political turn. Several days after the incident, local law enforcement has yet to identify or apprehend the perpetrators, leading to mounting frustration among the local community. The situation escalated on Saturday when a Congress delegation, led by former assembly candidate Harishankar Mewara, visited the site to inspect the premises and demand immediate action from the authorities.

During the visit, Mewara characterized the theft as a direct assault on the religious sentiments of millions of devotees rather than a routine criminal act. He expressed deep concern over the lack of progress in the investigation, noting that the inability of the police to secure leads after several days undermines public confidence in the local law enforcement apparatus. The delegation emphasized that the sanctity of such a prominent religious site requires a more urgent and professional response from the administration.

Addressing the gathering, the Congress leader warned that if the case remains unsolved, the party would be forced to launch a widespread public movement alongside the villagers. He urged the police to deploy specialized investigative teams and utilize modern forensic technology and informant networks to track down the culprits. The delegation further criticized the broader state of law and order in the Sumerpur constituency, citing a perceived rise in criminal activities that has left residents feeling vulnerable.

The delegation also called upon local MLA and Animal Husbandry Minister Joraram Kumawat to intervene personally to ensure the police administration takes effective measures. Villagers present at the temple echoed these sentiments, stating that the theft has deeply wounded the community's spirit. The protest was supported by several local figures, including Block Congress President Nepal Singh Pava, Sarpanch Union President Sumer Singh Manwar, and District Vice President Karan Singh Mertia, who joined the call for swift justice to restore peace and security in the region.
