Jaipur. Ahead of the Diwali festivities, the food safety department in Jaipur has launched a rigorous inspection and sampling drive to curb the sale of adulterated food products. Under the state-wide campaign against food adulteration, teams led by Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Manish Mittal conducted surprise checks at various prominent sweet manufacturing units and retail outlets across the district.

The operation focused on key areas including Kanota, Phagi, Maji Renwal, and Surajpura in Sanganer. During these inspections, officials collected multiple samples of festive delicacies, including Kesar Barfi, Gulab Jamun prepared in ghee, Mawa Pista Barfi, and Besan Ladoo. These samples have been dispatched to the state food analysis laboratory to ensure they meet safety and quality standards mandated by the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Dr. Mittal emphasized that the primary objective of this initiative is to protect public health during the high-demand festive season. Shop owners and manufacturers were strictly instructed to maintain hygiene, use food-grade colors in limited quantities, and ensure that all food items remain covered. Furthermore, businesses were reminded to display their valid food licenses prominently at their premises to maintain transparency with consumers.

The inspection teams scrutinized the production processes of over a dozen establishments, ranging from large-scale sweet manufacturers to local retailers and dairy producers. Beyond sweets, the team also collected samples of paneer, milk cake, edible oils, and various spices to check for potential contamination. Officials confirmed that the department would initiate legal proceedings against any establishment found violating safety norms once the laboratory reports are received.

This proactive measure aims to instill confidence among residents purchasing sweets for Diwali celebrations. The health department has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases of food adulteration to the authorities. The administration remains committed to ensuring that only safe and high-quality food products reach the market during the upcoming festival of lights.
