Barmer POCSO Court Delivers Life Sentence Until Death for Minor's Abuser
In a swift judicial process, a Barmer court sentenced a man to life imprisonment until death for the rape of a seven-year-old girl, concluding in three months.
Barmer. A local court in Barmer has handed down a landmark verdict, sentencing a man to life imprisonment until his final breath following the brutal rape of a seven-year-old girl. The judgment, delivered by Special Judge Ajitabh Acharya of the POCSO Court, also imposed a fine of 1.75 lakh rupees on the convict, identified as Mag Singh, a resident of Indra Nagar. The case, which shocked the local community, saw a remarkably swift conclusion as the entire trial was completed within a period of just three months.
The incident occurred on July 19, 2026, when the young victim was playing outside her residence. According to police reports, the accused lured the child into nearby bushes and committed the heinous crime. Following a formal complaint, the Barmer Women's Police Station registered a case, and authorities immediately launched a massive manhunt. Due to the gravity of the situation, specialized police teams were formed under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Arya, leading to the arrest of the accused within two hours of the crime.
The investigation was fast-tracked under the directives of District Superintendent of Police Chuna Ram Jat. The investigating officer ensured that the charge sheet was filed in court within 14 days of the arrest. To ensure justice was served without delay, the case was brought under the state's Case Officer Scheme, with Station House Officer Sarita Bishnoi appointed to oversee the proceedings and coordinate evidence collection.
During the trial, the prosecution presented a robust case, submitting 44 documents, 18 physical articles, and the testimonies of 20 witnesses. Special Public Prosecutor Damodar Chaudhary played a pivotal role in arguing the case effectively, ensuring that all evidence was presented in a timely manner. The court's decision to sentence the perpetrator to life imprisonment until death serves as a stern warning against crimes targeting minors.
