Jaipur. In a significant effort to promote hygiene and community well-being, the Ghumantu Jati Utthan Nyas, in collaboration with the Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA), New York, has launched a special cleanliness drive across various nomadic settlements in Jaipur. Ahead of the Diwali festivities, the campaign culminated in a ceremony where 201 women were honored with cleanliness awards for their dedication to maintaining tidy homes and surroundings.

The initiative is supported by the Chandra and KK Mehta Family Foundation, New York, alongside contributions from Dr. Raj Bansal, Dr. Sameen Sharma, and Dr. Rohit Dandia. During the event, Jaipur Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Saroj Kanwar Sodala served as the chief guest. She commended the initiative as an inspiring step toward community development and pledged further support from the municipal body to uplift the living standards of families residing in these settlements.

The campaign fulfills two major commitments made by RANA President Prem Bhandari during his visit to Jaipur last year. Following his pledge to ensure that no meritorious student from the nomadic community is deprived of education due to financial constraints, the organization recently announced a scholarship fund of 51 lakh rupees. This financial aid is designed to support the higher education of promising students within the community.

The second pillar of the initiative focuses on environmental health. Recognizing the challenges posed by a lack of resources and awareness, the organization launched the cleanliness award scheme to encourage residents to integrate sanitation into their daily lives. A survey conducted by the Nyas identified families who demonstrated exceptional commitment to keeping their neighborhoods clean, leading to the selection of the 201 awardees.

The award distribution is scheduled across various regions of the city, including Jaysinghpura Khor, Mansarovar, and Vidyadhar Nagar, throughout early November. Organizers emphasized that the primary goal of this drive extends beyond the awards themselves; it aims to foster a culture of health and collective responsibility. By transforming sanitation into a habitual practice, the project seeks to ensure that nomadic settlements become healthier and more sustainable environments for all residents.
