Bikaner Technical University celebrated the 165th birth anniversary of Sir M. Visvesvaraya with a two-day event emphasizing innovation, digitalization, and the role of engineers in sustainable development.

Bikaner. Bikaner Technical University recently hosted a vibrant two-day celebration to commemorate the 165th birth anniversary of the legendary Indian engineer and Bharat Ratna recipient, Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The event, held at the University College of Engineering and Technology campus, centered on the theme of smart engineering for a sustainable future through innovation and digitalization. Students from the B.Tech program participated in various activities designed to foster creative problem-solving and technical excellence.
The proceedings commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting and floral tributes led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Akhil Ranjan Garg, Finance Controller Hanuman Prasad Sharma, and Principal Dr. Parabant Singh Sandhu. During his address, Prof. Garg emphasized that the true essence of an engineering degree lies in evolving into a technology leader capable of addressing real-world industrial and societal challenges. He urged the student body to draw inspiration from the ideals of Sir Visvesvaraya to contribute meaningfully to the nation's technical landscape.
Finance Controller Hanuman Prasad Sharma drew a parallel between the ongoing Ganesh festival and the spirit of engineering, describing both as symbols of creativity and organized progress. He encouraged students to refine their skills to become catalysts for national development. Principal Dr. Parabant Singh Sandhu echoed these sentiments, noting that engineering serves as a vital medium for practical solutions rather than just theoretical knowledge.
The event featured a diverse array of technical competitions, including a bridge and tower building challenge that tested structural efficiency and a C-language coding hackathon. Students also engaged in debates on social media, general technology quizzes, poster making, and project presentations. The exhibition of grassroots innovations and social engineering projects, organized under the university's research cell, received significant praise from faculty and attendees alike. The celebration concluded with an awards ceremony where the Vice-Chancellor honored the top performers across various competitive categories.
