Rajasthan: Anti-drug camp organizers arrested after police find thousands of illicit tablets in their car

Balotra. A joint operation by the Anti-Terrorist Squad and local police in Dhorimanna has exposed a potential racket operating under the guise of public health initiatives. Authorities intercepted a vehicle on Tuesday evening as it departed from a location where a de-addiction camp had recently concluded. Upon searching the car, officers discovered a cache of 8,170 restricted pharmaceutical tablets alongside 1.78 lakh rupees in cash.

The three occupants of the vehicle, identified as Mahendra Vahrade, his associate Kapil, and the driver Chhotu Singh, were taken into custody immediately. When questioned by investigators, the trio failed to produce any valid licenses or legal documentation authorizing the possession or distribution of the seized substances. Consequently, the police have registered a formal case against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects had traveled from Udaipur to conduct the camp in Dhorimanna. Law enforcement officials are now examining whether these events were being used as a front to illegally distribute controlled medications to vulnerable individuals. Reports indicate that participants in such camps were allegedly charged significant fees, a claim that remains a focus of the ongoing inquiry.

The investigation has now expanded to trace the origins of the illicit supply chain. Detectives are working to identify the source of the tablets and determine if a larger network is involved in the unauthorized sale of these drugs across the region. The seized vehicle has been impounded as evidence, and the arrested individuals are currently undergoing intensive interrogation to uncover further details regarding their operations.
