Former Minister Vishvendra Singh Blasts Congress Leadership Following Bharatpur-Deeg Election Debacle

Bharatpur. The Congress party is facing intense internal turmoil following a crushing defeat in the recent municipal elections held across the Bharatpur and Deeg districts. Former cabinet minister and prominent leader Vishvendra Singh has publicly voiced his frustration, placing the blame squarely on the shoulders of the district party presidents and the state leadership for the party's dismal performance.

In a sharp critique, Singh alleged that the district presidents of Bharatpur and Deeg prioritized their personal favorites when distributing election tickets, completely sidelining dedicated party workers. He argued that this blatant disregard for grassroots loyalty alienated the electorate, leading to a significant loss of public trust that ultimately manifested in the poor election results.

The former minister did not hold back in his assessment of the state leadership, specifically targeting PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra. Singh accused the state president of remaining silent and providing protection to the district heads despite their failures. He warned that if the current leadership continues to ignore the ground reality, the party will face further political consequences from the voters who are already disillusioned with the current management.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Singh pointed out that Bharatpur is the home district of the Chief Minister, making the defeat particularly embarrassing for the party. He stated that as long as the current district presidents remain in their positions, any hope for a Congress revival in the region is virtually impossible. He has called for an immediate overhaul of the organizational structure to address the growing discontent.

The election data underscores the severity of the crisis, with Congress managing to secure only seven out of the 65 wards in the Bharatpur municipal elections. In contrast, independent candidates dominated the polls by winning 36 wards, while the BJP secured 20. With the party reduced to single digits, the demand for accountability and structural reform within the local Congress unit has reached a boiling point.
