High-Stakes Arrest in Jodhpur: Two Wanted Lawrence-Arju Bishnoi Gang Shooters Nabbed

Jodhpur. In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Jodhpur Commissionerate Police have successfully apprehended two notorious sharp shooters linked to the Lawrence-Arju Bishnoi gang. The suspects, who had been evading law enforcement for over a year, were taken into custody following a strategic raid at a hotel in the Kailash Nagar area of Jodhpur.

The individuals, identified as 23-year-old Jaskaran Singh and 23-year-old Rajinder Singh, were wanted in connection with multiple high-profile murder cases in Punjab, including the killings of a textile merchant and another local resident. Punjab Police had previously declared a reward of Rs 5 lakh each for information leading to their capture. Authorities believe the duo had entered Rajasthan via Madhya Pradesh and were actively planning a major extortion attempt against a prominent Jodhpur businessman.

The operation unfolded at the Suncity Inn hotel, where the suspects had checked into room 204 using falsified identities. Despite their attempts to mislead investigators by providing fake names, the joint team confirmed their true identities through rigorous verification. During the subsequent search, police recovered an illegal revolver, 83 grams of opium, and a total of Rs 88,100 in cash. Additionally, officers seized forged Aadhaar cards, multiple mobile phones, and various incriminating documents.

Intelligence reports suggest that the suspects had fled to Nepal following their alleged involvement in criminal activities in Fazilka and Abohar. The AGTF had been tracking their movements closely, noting their recent transition from Sirohi toward Jodhpur. The swift intervention by the police prevented what officials feared could have been a multi-crore extortion scheme targeting the local business community.

The investigation into the gang's network, including the source of their weapons and narcotics, is currently ongoing. Officials noted that Rajinder Singh faces eight criminal cases in Punjab, while Jaskaran Singh is wanted in four, with charges ranging from murder and attempted murder to arms act violations and criminal intimidation. The operation was executed under the leadership of senior police officials, including the ADG of ATS and AGTF, with support from the Jodhpur East police units.
