Viratnagar Tehsildar and Two Others Caught Red-Handed in Major ACB Bribery Sting

Viratnagar. In a major crackdown on corruption within the local administration, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) executed a successful trap operation at the Viratnagar Tehsil office on Wednesday. The agency apprehended three individuals, including the presiding Tehsildar, while they were allegedly accepting a bribe of 55,000 rupees. The operation has sent shockwaves through the local government offices as investigators continue to secure evidence.

The arrested officials have been identified as Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar Khedar and Junior Assistant Devi Lal Palsania, alongside a private individual named Ashok, who allegedly acted as a middleman. According to official reports, the bribe was demanded in exchange for processing a property registration document that had been pending for approximately two months. The complainant had reportedly been making repeated visits to the office, only to be met with delays and demands for illegal payments.

The initial demand made by the accused was for one lakh rupees, which was eventually negotiated down to the 55,000 rupees recovered during the sting. Following a formal complaint, the ACB conducted a thorough verification process, confirming that the bribe was indeed being solicited for official duties. Once the demand was substantiated, the agency mobilized a specialized team to catch the perpetrators in the act.

The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of the Anti-Corruption Bureau's leadership, following specific directives from Director General Govind Gupta. The mission was overseen by DIG Dr. Rameshwar Singh and executed under the tactical command of ASP Prashant Kaushik. The swift action by the bureau highlights the ongoing efforts to curb systemic corruption in regional revenue offices.

Following the arrests, the ACB team remained stationed at the Viratnagar Tehsil office for several hours to conduct a comprehensive search of official records and gather further evidence. Investigators are currently scrutinizing various documents to determine if there are other instances of malpractice or additional beneficiaries involved in the scheme. Further legal proceedings against the three accused are underway as the bureau prepares to present its findings to the court.
