Bharatpur Police Station Becomes Center of Domestic Dispute Involving Bihar Cadre IPS Officer

Bharatpur. A distressing domestic dispute involving a high-ranking police official has reached the Mathura Gate police station in Bharatpur. Pooja, the wife of Khagaria Superintendent of Police Bhanupratap Singh, has formally alleged that her husband is subjecting her to harassment and is actively pursuing a divorce while attempting to gain sole custody of their six-year-old daughter. The situation escalated when the woman traveled from Bihar to Bharatpur, only to find herself locked out of her marital home and her sister-in-law's residence.

The couple's history dates back to 2015 when they first met, eventually leading to a marriage on January 16, 2016, against the wishes of their families. Pooja claims that she stood by her husband during his challenging years of preparation, even working as a teacher in a private school in Bharatpur to support their household. She alleges that the dynamic of their relationship shifted significantly after he successfully cleared the UPSC examinations and attained the rank of IPS officer.

Upon arriving in Bharatpur, Pooja discovered that her husband had left the premises with their child. Her attempts to seek entry into the family's rented residence in Geeta Colony and her sister-in-law's home in Vijay Nagar were met with silence, as family members refused to open their doors. Despite waiting for over an hour at both locations, she was denied access to her family, prompting her to seek assistance from local law enforcement and the Inspector General's office.

At the Mathura Gate police station, the response remained limited. Pooja alleges that the Station House Officer communicated with the IPS officer over the phone and subsequently classified the matter as a private family dispute, declining to initiate formal legal proceedings. The woman remained at the station until late into the night, hoping for a resolution that never materialized.

In the public domain, an audio recording featuring the IPS officer has recently circulated on social media. In the clip, the officer suggests that the matter is currently sub judice and should be resolved through legal channels. He mentions that he is currently managing health issues and is open to discussion once his condition stabilizes. Bhanupratap Singh, who achieved success in the UPSC examinations three times between 2018 and 2020, remains a prominent figure in the Bihar police force as the current situation continues to unfold.
