Rajasthan Police Opens Doors for Law Students to Gain Practical Legal Experience

Jaipur. In a significant move to bridge the gap between academic legal studies and practical law enforcement, the Rajasthan Police has officially launched a new internship program. This initiative invites law students and research scholars to gain firsthand experience by working alongside police officials in various specialized branches, including the Special Operations Group (SOG), State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), and the Cyber Crime wing.

Under the directive of Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma, the program aims to provide young legal minds with exposure to the complexities of the criminal justice system. Selected interns will assist in critical areas such as policy analysis, data collection, and legal research. This unpaid opportunity is designed to enhance the professional development of students while providing the police force with valuable academic insights.

To be eligible, candidates must have secured at least 60 percent marks in their 12th-grade examinations. The program is open to students currently in the final year of their three-year LLB or five-year integrated law courses, as well as those pursuing LLM or PhD degrees in law. Recent graduates awaiting bar enrollment or further studies are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must maintain a consistent academic record of at least 60 percent throughout their semesters.

The internship duration ranges from a minimum of 45 days to a maximum of three months. Participants are required to maintain a minimum attendance of 75 percent to qualify for an official experience certificate. While the police department will provide workspace and internet connectivity, interns are expected to bring their own laptops for daily tasks.

The application process is open throughout the year, with batches commencing in January, April, July, and October. Upon successful completion of the tenure and submission of a research report, interns will receive an official certificate, marking a significant milestone for their future careers in the legal and judicial sectors.
