Rajasthan Police Net Over 1,100 Drug Peddlers in Massive Three-Week Sweep

Jaipur, August 11. The Rajasthan Police have launched a rigorous statewide crackdown on narcotics trafficking, resulting in the apprehension of 1,158 individuals involved in the illegal drug trade within the first twenty days of a month-long special campaign. Initiated on July 20 under the directives of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the operation aims to dismantle the supply chains and distribution networks fueling substance abuse across the state.

Official records indicate that law enforcement agencies have registered 848 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. During these operations, authorities successfully confiscated over 9,750 kilograms of contraband, including opium, poppy husk, cannabis, heroin, and MDMA. The campaign, which is scheduled to conclude on August 20, focuses heavily on targeting large-scale traffickers and commercial-quantity smuggling operations.

Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma stated that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to curb organized crime, cyber fraud, and offenses against women. The Bikaner range has reported the highest activity, with 273 arrests made across 206 registered cases. Other regions, including Udaipur, Ajmer, and the Jaipur Commissionerate, have also seen significant enforcement actions as police intensify their efforts to track the origins of these illicit shipments.

Beyond narcotics, the police have expanded their reach to include hardcore criminals and cyber offenders. Authorities have identified over 2,000 habitual offenders, leading to the arrest of 1,624 individuals. In the realm of cyber security, police have successfully frozen over 82 million rupees linked to fraudulent activities and facilitated the recovery of nearly 3 million rupees for victims. Furthermore, the force has taken a firm stance against illegal mining, registering 650 cases during the same period.

The operation also emphasizes public safety through extensive vehicle checks, with over 700,000 vehicles inspected at nearly 10,000 checkpoints. Traffic enforcement has been stringent, addressing violations such as drunk driving and failure to use safety gear. Through community policing efforts, including over 1,000 liaison group meetings, the police aim to foster public trust while ensuring that the fear of law remains a deterrent for criminal elements across Rajasthan.
