Sawai Madhopur Gears Up for 70th State-Level Basketball Championship Starting October 1

Sawai Madhopur. The city of Sawai Madhopur is set to host a major sporting spectacle as the 70th state-level basketball competition for students in the 17 and 19-year age categories commences on October 1. The event, which promises to showcase the best of Rajasthan's young athletic talent, will officially begin with an opening ceremony at the Police Line grounds at 10:00 AM. Organized under the coordination of the Government Higher Secondary School, Mantown, the tournament will run for seven days, concluding on October 7.

Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena will preside over the inaugural proceedings as the chief guest. The event will be chaired by District Collector Kana Ram, with District Superintendent of Police Jyestha Maitreyi, Municipal Council Chairperson Mewa Chaudhary, and Deputy Chairperson Maya Goyal attending as guests of honor. The presence of these dignitaries highlights the significance of the tournament in promoting regional sports culture.

Preparations for the influx of participants have been underway since Tuesday evening, with teams arriving from various districts across the state. To ensure a smooth experience for the visiting athletes, organizers have established a dedicated help desk at the local railway station. This facility is designed to assist teams with navigation and transportation to their respective accommodation sites. Furthermore, registration counters have been set up at the venue, organized by administrative division to streamline the check-in process.

Matches are scheduled to take place across four prominent locations in the city, including the Police Line ground, Dussehra ground, Fateh Public School, and St. Anselm's School. Physical education instructors have worked diligently to prepare five specialized courts across these venues to meet official standards. To maintain operational efficiency, a 24-hour control room has been activated to address any concerns or inquiries from participants throughout the duration of the event.

District Education Officer Dinesh Kumar Gupta, along with Additional District Education Officer Ajay Kumar Sharma and tournament observer Rajesh Kumar Sharma, have conducted thorough inspections of all facilities and lodging arrangements. The successful execution of this seven-day sports festival is supported by contributions from local philanthropists, private educational institutions, and various social organizations, ensuring that all logistical requirements are met for the visiting delegations.
