Shekhawati University Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Call for National Development

Sikar. The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University in Sikar celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervor, featuring a flag-hoisting ceremony followed by cultural performances and an awards function. The event commenced with floral tributes paid by the chief guest, Colonel Jagdeep Singh Lamba of the 3 Raj NCC Battalion, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Anil Kumar Rai at the statues of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and the local martyrs' memorial.

Addressing the gathering, Colonel Lamba emphasized that the freedom enjoyed by the nation today is the result of the immense sacrifices made by countless patriots. He urged the student body to prioritize national interest above all else, advocating for a life rooted in discipline, patriotism, and selfless service. The Colonel reminded the audience that the legacy of those who laid down their lives for the country must remain a guiding light for the younger generation.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Anil Kumar Rai framed the occasion as more than just a celebration, describing it as a time for collective resolve. He highlighted the national vision of a developed India by 2047, asserting that this goal is attainable only through the dedication of youth toward education, research, innovation, and social responsibility. Professor Rai encouraged students to foster positive societal change through knowledge, character, and moral values, reaffirming that students remain the core priority of the university.

The cultural segment of the program saw students performing patriotic songs and an impressive yoga demonstration, while CA Subhash Mishra captivated the audience with his musical renditions. The ceremony concluded with the recognition of university staff, including administrative officers, security personnel, gardeners, and sanitation workers, who were honored with mementos and certificates for their exemplary service.

The event was attended by a wide array of dignitaries, including Registrar Shweta Yadav, who delivered the vote of thanks, and Media In-charge Dr. Mahesh Chand Gupta, who moderated the proceedings. Several academic officials, faculty members, and local community leaders were also present to mark the milestone, reflecting the strong bond between the institution and the surrounding region.
