Churu Health Department Intensifies Screening for High-Risk Pregnancies

Churu. The medical department in Churu conducted a massive health screening drive on July 18, 2026, coinciding with the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan. During this special initiative, medical professionals across the district examined and vaccinated 6,208 expectant mothers. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma confirmed that the intensive campaign, which began on July 15, aims to provide targeted care for women identified with high-risk pregnancies.

As part of the latest administrative directives issued during a recent video conference with the Chief Secretary, health workers have been instructed to increase their engagement with vulnerable patients. Auxiliary Nurse Midwives and ASHA Sahayoginis are now mandated to contact high-risk pregnant women twice every week to ensure consistent health monitoring. Furthermore, medical officers will personally oversee the follow-up care for women expected to deliver during July and August.

The district administration reported that 620 site inspections were carried out on Saturday, alongside 560 home visits to track the health status of expectant mothers. Dr. Sharma emphasized that all health institutions have received clear instructions to mobilize resources effectively. This ensures that high-risk patients are brought to medical facilities for specialized consultations and necessary diagnostic tests without delay.

RCHO Dr. Shashank Chaudhary highlighted that reducing maternal mortality remains the top priority for the district health authorities. Field staff have been directed to strictly monitor all pregnancies to ensure that no woman misses her antenatal check-ups. The comprehensive care protocol includes early identification of complications such as anemia, hypertension, diabetes, and other critical conditions. Staff are tasked with ensuring that every pregnant woman receives at least four antenatal examinations, including essential tests for hemoglobin, blood pressure, weight, and blood sugar levels.

The department is committed to identifying and tracking cases involving multiple gestations, previous cesarean sections, and age-related risk factors. By maintaining rigorous surveillance and providing timely medical interventions, the health department aims to safeguard the well-being of both mothers and newborns throughout the district.
