Karauli Police to Launch T20 Cricket League to Engage Youth Against Crime

KARAULI. In a strategic move to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the younger generation, the Karauli police administration is gearing up to host the Cognibera T20 Police League. This sporting initiative, tentatively scheduled for the first or second week of December, aims to channel the energy of local youth toward positive engagement while addressing pressing societal issues such as substance abuse and the rising threat of cybercrime.

The planning process for this tournament recently gained momentum during a comprehensive meeting held at the Town Hall within the district collectorate premises. The gathering saw active participation from police officials representing all stations across the district, alongside various youth representatives who are set to play a pivotal role in the event's execution. Discussions centered on the operational framework of the newly formed Youth Community Liaison Groups, or UCLGs, which have now been established across all 19 police stations in the district.

According to the official roadmap, the tournament will follow a structured, phased approach. The initial stage involves the formation of cricket teams at the individual police station level. To facilitate this, four members from each UCLG and designated police friends have been integrated into the organizing committee. These individuals are tasked with mobilizing local youth and ensuring the smooth conduct of matches at the grassroots level.

Beyond the excitement of the cricket field, the primary objective remains community safety. Police leadership emphasized that the league serves as a platform to educate participants on the dangers of drug trafficking and the nuances of cyber security. By fostering a collaborative environment, the department hopes to encourage youth to act as proactive partners in crime prevention and community policing.

The preparatory meeting was presided over by District Superintendent of Police Lokesh Sonwal, with key contributions from Additional Superintendent of Police Ramkumar Kaswan, Hindaun ASP Dr. Kamal Ram, and Karauli DSP Kishore Bhadauria. As the district prepares for the upcoming tournament, the police department remains optimistic that this blend of sports and social awareness will yield long-term benefits for regional security and youth development.
