Bharatpur. In a proactive move to bolster both urban hygiene and worker welfare, Ward 27 of the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation has launched a dedicated safety initiative for its sanitation staff. As part of the ongoing Swachhata Seva Saptah, local councilor Advocate Lokesh Tamrauli personally distributed essential protective kits, including masks and gloves, to the frontline workers operating within the ward.
Addressing the gathering during the distribution event, Advocate Tamrauli emphasized that the health of sanitation personnel serves as the foundation for a cleaner city. He noted that workers often face significant health risks while clearing deep drains and handling hazardous waste, making direct contact with contaminants inevitable. By providing these safety tools, the local administration aims to mitigate the dangers of infection and long-term health complications associated with manual waste management.
The intensive cleanliness campaign, which commenced on October 3, is scheduled to continue through October 10. The primary objectives of this drive include the thorough desilting of drainage systems to prevent waterlogging and the systematic removal of long-standing garbage piles from vacant plots and narrow lanes. The initiative also focuses on maintaining consistent monitoring of sanitation standards across all residential pockets of the ward.
Beyond the operational aspects, the councilor highlighted the necessity of community cooperation in achieving sustainable cleanliness. He urged residents to take responsibility for their waste by utilizing designated collection points and municipal vehicles rather than disposing of trash in public spaces. The event saw the participation of local social worker Bablu Koli and the entire team of sanitation staff assigned to the area.
This initiative reflects a growing trend in local governance where the physical well-being of municipal employees is being integrated into broader public health strategies. By fostering a safer working environment, the ward hopes to improve the efficiency and morale of those tasked with keeping the city’s infrastructure functional and hygienic.
