KAROLI. The district of Karoli recently witnessed a significant milestone in educational outreach as 30,000 learners participated in the inaugural Foundational Literacy and Numeracy assessment. Organized under the Ullas Nav Bharat Literacy Program, the initiative aimed to evaluate the progress of adult learners across the region. The assessment saw a notable turnout, with women accounting for 22,500 of the total participants, while 7,500 men also took part in the evaluation process.
The examinations were conducted across 200 designated government schools throughout the district. The testing window remained open from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM, allowing participants ample time to complete the assessment. To ensure the integrity and smooth execution of the program, officials from the Literacy Directorate conducted extensive field visits to various testing sites.
Assistant Director Yogesh Upadhyay personally inspected centers at Khohri, Rajaur, and Deeppura to monitor the proceedings. Similarly, District Literacy and Continuing Education Officer Ramavtar Meena visited multiple locations, including Salempur, Mahamadpur, Chainpur, Jamura, Sikaroda Meena, and Phulwara. Additional Project Officer Ashok Kumar Meena oversaw the assessment process in the Mandrayal block, specifically visiting centers in Bugdar, Langra, and Chandelipura.
The distribution of examination centers was spread across several blocks to ensure accessibility. Hindaun City hosted 18 centers, while Shri Mahaveerji had 15, Sapotra 40, Karoli 20, Masalpur 18, Mandrayal 24, Nadauti 21, and Todabhim 44. This wide network allowed for the successful administration of the test to the targeted learner population.
At several model examination centers, the atmosphere was celebratory rather than stressful. Organizers welcomed the learners with traditional tilak and garlands, fostering a positive environment that reflected the enthusiasm of the participants. The successful completion of this assessment marks a vital step in the ongoing efforts to enhance basic literacy and numeracy skills among the adult population in the district.
