Sawai Madhopur Legal Units Strengthen Outreach for Vulnerable Groups

Sawai Madhopur, September 30. The District Legal Services Authority in Sawai Madhopur recently hosted a significant capacity-building workshop at the ADR Center, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of specialized legal units. Under the guidance of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, the event brought together members of the Legal Service Unit for Children and the Legal Service Unit for Mental Health to refine their approach toward supporting marginalized and vulnerable populations.

Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Samiksha Gautam, led the sessions, emphasizing the critical responsibilities these units hold in ensuring that legal aid reaches those who need it most. The training focused on streamlining service delivery for children, individuals with mental health challenges, and other disadvantaged groups, ensuring that legal support is both accessible and effective.

A major portion of the meeting was dedicated to the Dawn Unit, which focuses on substance abuse prevention and the rehabilitation of victims, and the Asha Unit, which is tasked with the prevention of child marriage. Experts from various departments provided detailed insights into their respective fields to foster a collaborative environment. Additional Superintendent of Police Satish Verma discussed protocols for handling juvenile cases, while Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mangilal outlined the legal consequences and preventive measures regarding child marriage.

The session also featured technical presentations on human trafficking prevention by Assistant Sub-Inspector Syed Ansar Ali and child protection resources provided by Child Helpline supervisor Meena Kumari. Drug Control Officer Sindhu Sharma highlighted the dangers of substance abuse and the regulatory efforts to curb illegal drug sales. The program utilized multimedia presentations to educate attendees on the broader functions and schemes operated by the National Legal Services Authority.

The event saw participation from a wide array of stakeholders, including representatives from the labor department, education sector, health services, and various non-governmental organizations dedicated to disability and child welfare. Panel advocates and legal aid volunteers from across the district, including Gangapur City, Khandar, and Bonli, joined the proceedings via video conferencing to ensure a unified approach to legal service delivery across the region.
